Sept 1 - Refuse to Worry

"So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God's kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from Him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly. Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself." -Matthew 6:33-34

Jesus pretty much spells this one out for us. Our priorities - no matter how noble, how pure, or how ambitious...our priorities and our personal affairs are LESS IMPORTANT than seeking God. When we learn to seek God first, our needs, desires, and wants begin falling into place.

I'm a dreamer. I set big goals, and then I set bigger goals. I have faith in Jesus, and I genuinely believe God can do anything. Yet somehow...I never seem to get this right. Most days, I get so wrapped up in my own agenda that I kinda just bring God along for the ride. If I take a brutally honest look into my own prayers, most of them are centered around things I want, results I want, and future events that have nothing to do with the present moment. My eyes should be focused on the presence of God - not the presents of God. The presents are a result of His presence.

Tomorrow will absolutely take care of itself. If you're alive today (which, hopefully you are...that'd be weird if you were reading this and you weren't alive), you're proving the words of Jesus by simply existing. Think about it. All we have is this present moment. There's nothing we can do to get to tomorrow. It's always today. And by focusing on God in this present moment, our anxieties fade, and His righteousness becomes everything.

Jesus is offering us a practical, tangible solution to fear, anxiety, and all of life's problems. The best thing I can possibly do for myself today is to wake up, and before doing anything else...go in the closet, shut the door, get on my knees, and pray. It's ok to have a list of goals, needs, wants, and desires. Bring that list before the Lord. Just know that nothing on your list will ever take precedence over the goodness, faithfulness, and righteousness of our Creator.

Your prayers will be answered when you get your priorities right. Seek God, trust God, and refuse to worry. Tomorrow will take care of itself. So will today. Are you breathing? There you go. -Zack

Thank you for sending your Son to teach us how to live. Thank you for the opportunity to approach your throne with confidence. You're my Creator. You're my everything. No matter where my thoughts go, the Truth remains, and you are good. Everything in this universe, including where I sit in this moment, belongs to you. I am resting in the palm of your hand. You're my guide, my comfort, my shield, and my salvation.

Thank you for providing food today. Thank you for the gift of another day - it's wonderful to be alive. Thank you for saving me, Jesus.

Search my heart. If there's anything unpleasing to you, please reveal it. Forgive my sin, and teach me how to forgive others - just as you do, Lord.

I come to you with a long list of requests. People need healing, I need your provision, and my heart is uneasy. But you are good, and I'd rather have your wisdom than anything else in this world. For I know you give your wisdom generously, and it's through your wisdom that everything happens. Thank you for the trials I face today. Thank you for developing my character. This is nothing in comparison to the price you paid for my life. I seek you today, because I love you. Thank you for loving me first.

Holy Spirit, continue to teach me, and give me the eyes to see what you see. I trust that you've ordained my steps today, and I give myself to your will. Let your will be done.

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.
