Beauty is most often right in front of us. It's in the subtle breeze, the steam rising from your afternoon coffee at work, the grass your dog just peed on, and your dirty car.
If your heart is in the right place, you'll see beauty in everything. Sobriety has taught me how to get out of my own head. Fear is just a trap of the enemy, and I can beat fear by having a grateful heart.
I'm grateful for my stress at work - it means I have a job.
I'm grateful I have to do laundry - it means I have clothes.
I'm grateful to pay rent - it means I have a place to sleep tonight.
I'm grateful to be up at midnight writing this - because I remember being drunk & worthless at this hour, years ago.
Much of my life was spent looking through the lens of my own blurry eyes. Now I see life through the lens of a clear heart, and it's truly beautiful.
"God, thank you for this new way of life. Your creation is beautiful, intricate, and perfect. Today, I pray that your thoughts would become my thoughts - let your ways become my ways. Walk with me today, and guide me with your eternal presence. Thank you for the gift of today. Amen."
